Rugby league

On Friday, the 26th of May was the day the state coaches of rugby came out to observe anybody that had an interest in the state. We hade to do ball drills and a practice game. The state coaches were looking for people who won’t muck around with the balls and who were brave enough to take on the bigger children. My favourite drill was when we had to get into two groups and you had to get 10 passes whilst the other team had pads. The other team had to make sure they didn’t get 10 passes. If they get 10 passes the team wins and the other team had to do 10 burpees.

At the end of the drills and game they told us who got into state rugby. The coaches said they can only choose 21 people who will get into state rugby, but 4 of them had to be subs, which meant they had 17 runners who start on the field. The coaches said my name second to last of the runners list. I felt excited that they said my name 16th which meant I got to play on the field and for the state. My family felt proud because I’ve only been playing 2 years in Adelaide and it has been a strong interest of mine.

After rugby the chosen had to go to NRL headquarters. The state coach told us what we will be doing for defence positions and who will be the kicker for our team.

My first game is at the Adelaide Oval, June the 24th this Saturday .Adelaide Rams vs Melbourne are versing each other. The team I will be playing for is the Adelaide Rams.I believe that I will be a winger centre or five eight for fist receiver.

The school is organising a casual day fundraiser to support myself in going to Melbourne with my state team. People within my team have organised a casual day in the past and raised lots of money, but we have a smaller school then them.

POEMS

Haiku Poem –

Slimy slithery, like to dig in the garden dirt, creeping in the dirt.

Small slimy creatures, evolving from water to land, catching flies with tongues.

It has jet black stripes, it can have really sharp teeth, it can run fast.

Simile Poem –

Today I was as scared as a fly going in a spider web.

Yesterday I was happy as a soccer ball getting kicked around the oval.

In public I am shy as a dog going to the vets.

In my room I am as playful as a game on the PlayStation 3.

To my coach I am as skillful as a wolf hunting.

To my dad I am as slow as a sloth in the rain forest.

To my friend I am as exciting as a cat chasing a cotton ball in the house.

But really I am Beau fast and hard working.

Quatrain Poems – AABB

Running around with a soccer ball,

kicking it in a shopping mall.

Getting chased by a security guard,

trying to catch me was hard.

I tried to make a call,

the telephone box was full.

I found a exit to the yard,

I sent a Christmas card.

On the front of the card there was a basketball,

that I thought was really cool.

The security guard got jarred,

with my kind regard.

Quatrain Poems – ABAB

The ball was rolling around,

it went up and down,

not making any sound,

almost hitting the mound.

Acrostic Poem –

Eager of sports

Always on task
